Lil Kim
North Korea has been in the news a lot lately but not as much as I would expect for a crazy rouge nation threatening to use nuclear missiles against the US and South Korea, finding ancient unicorn bones and engaging in high diplomacy with Dennis Rodman.
The leader Kim Jong Un just can’t get the attention he so desperately seems to want. Just like his dad, but I guess its just a case of crying wolf.

Its the first day of Spring and it’s snowing outside, with a mix of icy rain. Seems a little against the nature of things.
Feels like a good day to remember this man David Suzuki, who’s been a champion of the environment, and who feels like the only genuine voice for positive change on that front.
This was an idea Ive had for a while to meld him with the Burton Kramer 70’s CBC logo as they’re indelibly linked in my mind. David Suzuki and The Nature of Things on CBC.

I’ve been catching up on a lot of Doctor Who lately and just reached season 5 of the reboot and Matt Smith as the new doctor. Well new to me anyways. One of my favourite species on the new show though turned out to be the Ood. Here’s a Moebius inspired sketch I made while watching the tail end of season 4

My entries into “A Calendar of Tales” project by Blackberry and Neil Gaiman.
Neil Gaiman proposed a question for each month of the year on twitter people tweeted back and Mr.Gaiman responded by choosing one and writing a story, then all were asked to illustrate on said stories.
January’s tale
I wanted to capture the look of the old Atari/Nintendo video game covers, that had beautifully painted scenes which of course the game was nothing like. But those covers like Missile Command or defender always captured your imagination.
September’s Tale
A never lost lion ring, I wanted to draw two ideas for this one a Chinese lion statue ring, with the finger hole being its mouth and the maltese falcon as a totem for the crow. Something about this story made me think of the beginning of a great suspense crime novel.
